Hi Francesco,
I have been receiving lots of email suggesting a lot of confusion still regarding when the first assignment is due and on which readings it is to be based. A student also asked me whether “the page” is one page single-spaced or one page double-spaced (a factor of two). I wasn’t quite sure how to respond.

Would you mind sending a short clarifying email to all?Section meetings went really well on Wednesday, I think.

Thanks!
Rachel

Hi Rachel,
Confusion on the weekly assignments seems to be a common thing at the beginning of the course. No worries. Read here! 🙂

The weekly assignments are the same we had when you took the course as a student…

Each student is expected to write ONE PAGE (openly defined: spacing, font, etc.). The first assignment, based on next week’s assignments, is due a week from Tuesday (or as the Syllabus states, on September 17).

(This means that the reflection on the assignments for week 2 is due on Tuesday of week 3; the one on the assignments for week 3, on week 4; etc.).
The Syllabus also states:
Weekly written responses. Submit short reports on your assignments to the instructors each week (3rd to 14th week). Limit them to 1 page (print your name/s and date on top of each page!), and reflect on at least one written and one musical source among those assigned. These written responses can be prepared individually, or by pairs of students (chevruta), in the dialoguing tradition of Jewish learning (provided that the responses actually reflect your weekly dialogues).
Is this clear? If you can confirm that it is, I will also send this out to everyone.
Yours,
fr.

Hi Francesco,

As always, thanks for the thorough response. Yes, this is quite clear and, I think, would be worth sending to everyone just to make absolutely sure that we’re all on the same page.

Best and see you soon,
Rachel

Rachel,
Thank you for the feedback. I think I will post our exchange to the blog, and send the link to everyone 😉
See you on Tuesday. (Also, I’d like to know a bit more about how sections went…).
